Sustainability Milestones

At Nuvant, we have been working since 2008 to generate value from the actions that have allowed us to be certified and sustainable. Learn about our most important milestones here.

By 2022, we achieved 80% material recovery rate, corresponding not only to the recovery of recycled materials, but also to industrial surpluses that are sold to artisanal transformers. Additionally, we implemented a pilot program for the recovery and recycling of dangerous chemical substances within the framework of the circular economy.

We also verified the 2021 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory, which showed emissions of 4,211 tCO2e. Of these emissions, 99% were compensated through the purchase of carbon credits associated with forest mitigation projects in the Ticoya Indigenous Reserve in the department of Amazonas and the protection of the region of the Chinchiná River based in the Department of Caldas. The remaining 1% was mitigated through energy efficiency strategies in the Company's production processes.

In addition, we achieved a reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions derived from the transportation of employees between the Company and their homes of 31.6% compared to the 2018 baseline.

By the end of the first semester of 2023, we had a utilization rate of 81%, an increase of 1% over the utilization of recyclable materials and industrial surpluses in the first half of 2022.

We also began using rainwater at the La Tolva Distribution Center, where we collect rainwater from a roof area of 1250 m2. This is equivalent to a use of water of approximately 207.5 m3 per month, which is equivalent to 83 Olympic swimming pools.

In 2023, we continued to search for opportunities to improve energy efficiency. This included improving energy performance through technological renewal, such as changing compressors. This resulted in savings of 26,208 Kwh for weekends and 50,275 Kwh per plant operation. We also invested in measurement equipment by work centers, which helped us to better understand our energy use.

We are committed to strengthening sustainable mobility strategies. This includes promoting active mobility, such as walking and biking, encouraging the use of public transportation, optimizing work trips, and rationalizing private vehicles (flexible work, differential schedules, etc.). We also promote the culture of sustainable mobility.
